Heh... one paper finished... 4 more to go. German today is nicht schlecht, not too bad. The only thing that i had a lil difficulty on was the listening comprehension, but other than that, i think it was fine. Thought the reading comprehension was easier than German 1. Juz hope the grades were good too. Lakeside Practical was fun today. I worked with a different group and we were very efficient. =) Only sad thing is one of our regular customers who is in a wheel chair and always comes with Mr Frost, we juz found out that she passed away. So i was a little sad, cuz i was usually the one serving her table when she visited Lakeside. Lunch was citrus monkfish with baby new potatoes, carrots and broccoli, and shared the deserts with Grace. She had a tiramisu and i had the jam tart. Both were fantastic. I love the tiramisu. I like tiramisu with a strong coffee taste. =)

It's raining now. Dunno how come always rain on the first day of school... It rained on the first day of the spring semester too. The first lecture was nothing. First i had to spend 5 min walking ard to look for the new lecture theatre, but it was worth it cuz the lecture theatre was nice.... at least finally something like the auditorium in MGS. =)Comfy cushion seats, proper wooden tables and all. But ended up there was no lecture cuz the lecturer did something to the connection and the powerpoint screen juz disappeared, so she decided to let us go off. But there was a video of the lecture online, so it wasn't too bad. But i was like, that's it?? what did i wake up for? I dun even have anymore lessons today.

Got back my assignment marks for Business Research Methods already. 64%. okay, i guess. =)

The weather forecast for the next 10 days is light rain/scattered showers, except for Saturday, which is Partly cloudy. In other words, typical British weather.

Sunday, April 27, 2003

lessons start at 9am tomorrow.... but have to get to the lecture theatre earlier cuz i have no idea where it is cuz the School of Management have finally moved into its new building after 9 months of delay. The new building looks quite nice... I'm glad we are finally moving. Only pity is that Lakeside Restaurant won't we moving till next semester, so i won't get to work in the new restaurant unless i take FnB Management next year.

Blah blah blah.....=)

Hee... I like flying... taking aeroplanes....=)

NatWest better not lose my cheque!!!! I put my cheque from working at Lakeside through the rapid deposit box last Monday b4 i left for Canterbury and the cheque is still not cleared yet, so i went down to NatWest today who told me that there is no record of the cheque being deposited... in the end they had to contact the branch at High Street and blah blah blah.... It's not a lot of money but it's still my money.....

I dun understand how London is the banking capital of Europe and still take 4 days to clear a cheque....4 Days!!! Can you believe it?

Very cloudy today.

I had my BBQ yesterday!!!! The Kebabs were fantastic, thanks to Iona who did a great jopb marinating it.... and then there was the turkey and chicken sausages. I dun really like chicken sausages, or sausages to begin with, but these were fantastic!!!!!! And then we did some fried onions and salad. Really simple barbecue, but we had a lot of fun preparing it and setting up and cooking and eating, even though the weather was not as hot as expected and the food was a lil burnt.

Studied a bit today. Read my notes for Tourism Operations 2 on Airline Marketing and i think tonight i will do more reading on that and then tomorrow have to go down to the language lab to do some German.... Cannot slack now, German exam on Tuesday and all the other exams coming up....

Business Accounting 20th May 2003 50% of grade
Law for Managers 22th May 2003 50%
Tourism Operations 2 23rd May 2003 60%
Business Research Methods 27th May 2003 30%

Only problem is, everytime the sun is out, i want to go out and bask in the sun instead of studying. And the sun is usually out almost everyday.

I've bought my Cereal!!!! After spending about 15 minutes in the cereal aisle, wondering which one to buy, I've finally made my decision. I reached out and took the yellow box that said "Weetabix Mini Crunch" on it. Can you believe it??? After dilly dally for so long, all i picked out was Weetabix. =) Actually i have never tried Weetabix before, and so decided to give the good ol' Weetabix a try. Not too bad really, esp since it has fruit and nut in it. Perfect for snacking....=)

Talked to my mum yesterday before she went to NTUC to stock up on vegetables, since Pasir Panjang wholesale is closed for 3 days... She was asking me if i want anything from NTUC, cuz she was going to send some stuff to me. I told her i wanted Meiji's Zooland biscuits. Something that i really liked when i was young. So good. My mum said wo3 zhang3 bu4 da4, meaning i have not grown up yet, which is why i still wanna eat biscuits like this. That's not true. I eat these biscuits once in a while to relive old times. Really.

And i finally got the instant BBQ from Tesco!!! I will be having my BBQ later!!! Got some garlic bread too, and some baguette. I have a date with the bbq at 8pm!! Can't wait!!! =)

What Kind of Writing Utensil Are You?

Did a personality test that i found on Mars blog. I wonder if these tests are really real.... so what if i am a sparkly gel pen? I never thought i would be one actually. always thought i'll be a boring blue pen or something. Not that it matters anyway.

Heh, got a tag board for this page. Am all of a sudden in a mood to personalise it... make it more 'me', i guess....

The sun is finally out!!!!!! Yay!!! Maybe i will finally get to have my bbq tonight. =) need to go to tesco later to get my cereal...........

Sunday, April 20, 2003

Woke up to huge gusts of wind... you know the sound when the wind is really strong....??? yeah, woke up to those sounds, making me wonder if there is a hurricane or something.... not that it is likely.... but the wind was really strong. Had the last of my sultana bran with milk for breakfast. I am so in love with cereal now.... can you believe that i actually went to the Tesco website to look at the next cereal i should buy??? Can you believe it??? And can you believe there is actually Kellog's X-Men cereal and Simpsons Eat my Shorts cereal? There is, i just found out today. I dunno what is the next cereal i should buy, should i stay to conventional choices, ie, Special K or Cheerios or should i try something completely new, like Strawberry Crisp??? Decisions decisions.... i realise that sometimes i make something very simple become very difficult by giving myself too many choices. But i am like that. You know me.

Olivier told me yesterday that i am too curious. I think i am. Sometimes i am juz too kay poh. I mean, it's crazy sometimes how i juz go and look at really stupid websites, like the website of the washing powder i use. I mean, what's there to see? it's juz washing powder!!!

But this is the real me, isn't it??? Happy Easter everyone!!

Saturday, April 19, 2003

i really should be studying now.... exams are in less than 4 weeks...

Really cold today... seriously, the weather here is crazy,.... it is cold again today.... even though it was really hot yesterday and the day before and 2 days before that.... i wish the weather dun change that fast really.

Iona, Olivier and I were thinking of having a bbq soon.... a bbq to begin the summer season.... and juz when we were thinking about having it today, it turns cold and windy.... what the hell is wrong with the weather really??? never mind, we'll definitely have it, with sausages and chicken nuggerts and fish fingers and kebabs, and salad and barbequed bananas.... i'm sure we'll have it soon. =)

Thursday, April 17, 2003

It was autumn, then winterm then spring and back to winter and now it is summer!!! Really really hot today and yesterday. 22C. I was in the sun walking the whole day yesterday... and when i came back, Iona told me i was all red at my shoulders.... dun think i got sunburn, but i thought it'll be a big joke if i got sunburnt in England, the Newsweek-branded worst place to be in if you r a sun lover.....

Yeah, was in Canterbury on Tuesday and Dover yesterday. Canterbury was nice.... but a lil overrated i think. Maybe because i thought i was too small.. Went to the cathedral, St. Augustine's Abbey, Dame John Gardens, Canterbury Castle, West Gate. The weather was really good, so i was in a good mood all the time. =) Did a bit of window shopping too.... went to this place called the Custard Tart which sells absolutely wonderful baguettes at less than £2.50!!! Where can you get such good deals, there are even fillings like Duck with spring onion and Mexican chicken salad. Really really really good. =) THe YHA at Canterbury was quite near town and very victorian. Met these 3 other ppl who were also travelling alone and we started talking during dinner all the way till 11plus. Kristin is from Australia and is now on a round-the-world working holidays for 11 months, to recollect and rediscover herself after her divorce. Then there's Claire who travels to England at least twice a year "to feed her English roots with some novels" (She's half french and half english). THere's also Gus, a 19-year-old American from South Carolina and is now in UK for at exchange programme at Strathclyde in Glasgow and will be spending easter to travel before going back to Clemson (where he studies) in July. and there's me. Such an eclectic mix. We were talking about all sorts of things from weather to working to television to sports to Brovil and Marmite/Vegemite. It was funny. Also had to be Claire's model while she did some portraits for us. =)

Ooh... juz a small question. How do you pronounce "Texas" and "Taxes"??? They sound the same to me, seriously.

Dover. I Love Dover Castle. and the secret wartime tunnels. More than anything else. Possibly becuase i am a WW2 freak, but i really like the tunnels.... which was the headquarters of the operations from Dover during WW2. And there was also an Underground hospital. Hard to imagine that you are standing in a ward that housed many wounded soldiers during WW2, less than 65 years ago. Met Gus again. He was here on his way to Portsmouth. Did i mention that he has a really nice body? Not that it matters though. And i have not realised that it's been 6 and a half months since i saw the sea and the beach. The sun, the sand and the sea. Only problem is that there is no sand. only pebbles. For some reason, it was a pebble beach, not a sandy one. But heck, it was a beach nontheless. I also had my first ice cream in dunno how many million years (this is an exxaggeration). Hmmm...... I dunno how i actually lived without it for so long.... maybe i'll go have another one after this....=)

I am going into the sun now. I dunno what's wrong with me, but nowadays, i feel like i have to be in the sun whenever it's out. It's crazzy. =) But i like it that way.=)

Sunday, April 13, 2003

sorry... i have not been doing much, if that's what you wanna know. A lil bored, to be honest.

Thursday, April 10, 2003

the weather in uk at the current moment is REALLY COLD. First it was autumn, then winter, then the wonderful spring and now back to winter!!!! -3C yesterday and there was a light snow!!! SNOW! Can you believe it? Snow in April? Now i really understand what they mean when they say the weather here is unpredictable.

Sunday, April 06, 2003

Dunno what's wrong with the weather. It is so damn bloody cold.... totally opposite of yesterday's.

Saturday, April 05, 2003

i wrote half of today's blog a while ago, then icq2go hanged, so i have to log off and log on again.... and i lost the last blog.

As i was saying....

I worked a total of 31 hours in Lakeside this weeek, not sure what is the hourly rate, but if it is £5, that would give me a total pay of £155. Cool. =) Happy. I went to Portsmouth Harbour today. Went by train. Virgin Trains to be exact. Which is so much more quieter, smoother and more comfortable than that lousy South West trains. Really crap, that South West trains. They use really lousy trains, especially for the waterloo-portsmouth line. Trains that should have been retired a million years ago. I am serious. All the other train companies are now using those high tech air-con trains. Never mind, why am i so bothered? I dunno. And thse trains doors. That is another story all together, dun get me started on that.

Anyway, yes Portsmouth. I wanted to go to the Portmouth Naval Base, the Historic Dockyard. But it is closed!!!! Closed on a Saturday! Because of an anti-war demonstration!!!! Can you believe it.... i came all the way down only to discover that it is closed!!!! Why must there be all these war stuff???? Sigh. So i walked to Gunwharf Quay, which is designer heaven, if you are into those kind of stuff. Walked around a bit, cK Company Store, Tommy Hilfiger, Polo Ralph Lauren, Ted Baker, Bally, Fred Perry etc etc etc, you get the idea. They're all factory outlets, so there are lots of discounts. Bought a ticket to go for the harbour cruise, saw many warships, one of which even juz returned from the Gulf. Duh. This is POrtmouth Naval Base, duh, what d'ya expect? Vey Pearl Harbour-like, if you ask me. THough i have never been to Pearl Harbour. =)

After the cruise, went to explored more of Gunwharf... Cadbury factory outlet(??... 18 Time Out bars for £1.20; boy, was i tempted...), FCUK, Nike, Gap, blah blah blah. I walked into all the shops, almost all and tried on a lot of stuff.... had my eye set on this Gap jacket. £14.99, din know whether to get it or not. so i put it back, walked around, went back, looked again. Put it back, looked around somemore.... blah blah blah.... until the 3rd time i walked into the shop and decided, yes i am going to get it.
And so i got it. But dun let me mum know. Cuz she already warned not to buy any more clothes. =) Was at the Nike FC(factory outlet) and saw the pair of trainers that i so liked and wanted to get b4 i came to UK. £27.99, but they dun have it in my size. sigh. Never mind. not that i need another pair anyway. Then i realised that there is actually a H&M in town. After my last wander into H&M store, as you guys know, i was hooked. But the H&M store is in town, not at the Quays, and by then it is already 6pm, so i had to go, no time to go to town. H&M...........!!!

Saw a hot air balloon on my way back in a old lousy SouthWest train that stopped at every station. Nice way to end a beautiful sunny day.... The balloon and the sun set and the scenery, that is, not the train. =) Juz found out that the Portmouth H&M is the biggest in the south. Wonderful.

Wednesday, April 02, 2003

i dunno what it is with me and water man.... remember on Monday's post i told you that the light in the corridor outside my room has dropped and was dangling my its wires? Well, yesterday, the technicians came and fixed the light by putting the light in a new position, but what they did not do is to seal up the old drill holes and yesterday i realised that water has started dripping from one of the whole.... seriously... it is dripping water again....

On other notes, i had Jamie Oliver's chicken today, cuz the chicken is made using his recipe. It is actually chicken and pesto, wrapped in bacon and baked over a bed of potatoes, cherry tomatoes and olives. He did it fpr Red Nose Day. I dun really fancy backed chicken cuz it is usually too hard and dry, but this wasn't too bad. Dessert was mixed berry cheesecake. I like cheesecake. Love it. Really cold today, chilly winds.

Writing this in Derrick's room, will be going back to my place now. Iona would be back. I am going to watch England v Turkey. =)

Tuesday, April 01, 2003

had pork medellions with leek, egg and apricot stuffing at Lakeside for lunch today... good stuff man. I dun think there is anywhere in this world when you can work for 5 hours including lunch and morning coffee which takes up about an hour. Dessert was black forest gateau. I tell you... i love the food at Lakeside. The black forest gateau and the pork medellions are new stuff that we're trying out for next semester's menu. I highly recommend it...=) today's weather is depressing... woke up feeling very cold... was raining... i think the first time for like 3 weeks??? yeah.... but apparently it will be better again during the weekend... hopefully....
