Planes spotted on my way from South Bank to Covent Garden:
a BA (British Airways) B747 and B777-200
a EVA (Taiwanese airline of Eva Corp.) - can't tell what it is
2 JALs (Japan Air System) - both B747-400 (B744 for short)
some other planes, all flying very low, but can't tell what they really are

Now, my two favourite for the day
an ANA B747-400 in Pokemon livery!!!! So cool... i think it is so cool to even see the Pokemon livery from the ground!
and a 4-engine SIA plane. If u know SIA as well as this plane freak do, there are only 2 planes in SQ's fleet that has 4 engines, the B744 and the A340-500 (A345), which SQ uses for its non-stop flights from SIN to Los Angeles or New York. But considering that i spotted the plane at 4pm, it is kind of an odd timing, cuz SQ planes normally arrive at around 2-3pm and 7pm (don't ask how i know that). Then kor pointed out to me that there was only a single deck, so realised that it might be the A345 flying across london from New York (Newark) to SIN. Quite possible too, cuz this plane was flying at higher altitudes than others. :)

Highlights of the days was a single cone ice cream, the kind you get from an ice cream truck, buskers, buskers and more buskers, good sushi, japanese green tea, loads of tulips and good weather!!! Weather really held up today, was overcast in the morning, but the weather juz got better and better... out in my linen skirt! ;)

Anyway, Juz finished dinner... again after last week's birthday party, Victor decided to get people around again, so we had fried rice, yaki udon, stir fried lily flower bud with carrots and minced meat, and fried snakebeans, and frog legs. Yeah, frog legs. I actually have not eaten frog legs for over 10 years already, and to think that the place where i will eat it is in London. Pandan cake for dessert, which is to be served. Argh, i feel full already.

l'ambience - an amalgam of attentive service, exquisite cuisine and relaxing atmosphere

There is nowhere better to wine and dine than at l'ambience

My passion is l'ambience. My own restaurant.

If you didn't know better, l'ambience could juz be a most popular restaurant on the high street. ;)

My radio must really sux. In the morning, Heart 106.2 is perfect, but in the evening, I get Virgin 105.8 instead. Argh, it irritates me how i have to turn the tuning dial everyday to get rid of the disturbance.

Quote of the day...

My cousin has decided to apply for pharmacy in NUS. And for NTU? Guess what she applied? Biomedical Science, which is not surprising, but it's a double degree together with...

Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Wow.

Which means that if she takes this, she would spend the first 3 years in NTU and then the next 2 in Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.

Double Wow.

Things might not be as it seems. Keep calm, take a deep breath and smile. :) Do not jump into conclusions until u know the whole story.

Must have been eating too much toxins. Got a slight pimple outbreak. Time to detox, detox and more detox and meditate.

Heh, doesn't sound like me at all!! ;)

Received the dreaded credit card bill today. Was not as bad as i thought. But decided since the expenses are incurred during travels, they do not actually come under "daily expenses" and hence, shall be paid for with my "non-daily expenses" account. Heh, though i do feel that my finances are definitely not as controlled as before.

Pizza stolen from delivery man's motorcycle in West Coast Rd

What are some ppl thinking?? Is it worth it stealing a pizza from a delivery man juz because u are hungry?? THis is Singapore, not London leh. I'm sure u still can get a $2 chicken rice, or fish ball noodles, or char kway teow, or wanton mee in Singapore. If u really want pizza, i know some places in hawker centres that actually sell pizza for less then $10. Is it really worth it to risk getting caught and going to jail juz for a pizza?

Had a great great weekend with great food, great dessert and great fun! Best of both worlds... This is THE semester to remember. :)

Can't believe i am starting school tomorrow. Where did all the time go to?? :(

Been reading too much squabbles everywhere... What are people thinking?? Sigh. Why harm someone innocent who has not done anything to u??

Kids campaign to free Singapore man on death row

SINGAPORE, April 12 (Reuters) - Two 14-year-old Singapore brothers have begun a rare campaign in the city state to free their jailed father from death row, where he faces execution for trafficking about 1 kg (2.2 lb) of marijuana.
Twins Gopalan and Krishnan Murugesu, on the advice of their father's lawyer, handed out about 500 flyers in a busy shopping district seeking support for a petition against the execution, saying their father's death would make them orphans.
"My parents are divorced and my father has been looking after us. My mother remarried, lives somewhere else and doesn't see us anymore. If he is hanged...we will become orphans," 14-year-old Krishnan Murugesu was quoted by local Today newspaper as saying.
The twins, under care of their unemployed grandmother since their father was arrested in August 2003, rely on handouts from a welfare agency for daily expenses, said his lawyer, M. Ravi.
Shanmugam Murugesu, 38, arrested at the Malaysian border, lost an appeal against a conviction of trafficking about a kg (2.2 lb) of cannabis. His lawyer is seeking clemency from Singapore President S.R. Nathan.
Singapore enforces some of the world's toughest drug laws. Anyone aged 18 or over convicted of carrying more than 500 grammes (17.6 ounces) of cannabis faces mandatory execution by hanging.
In its 2004 report, rights group Amnesty International said about 400 people have been hanged in Singapore since 1991, mostly for drug trafficking, giving the wealthy city-state of 4.2 million people possibly the highest execution rate in the world relative to its population.
Amnesty said only 6 people sentenced to death in Singapore has been spared execution.
Singapore has staunchly defended its use of the death penalty and maintained that capital punishment has deterred major drug syndicates from establishing themselves in Singapore.

Do u think the kids' petition will work? I'm not so sure about that, cuz me thinks Singaporeans are generally apathetic...

Do u know that i've gotten off my last ride more than 6 hours ago, but i still feel like i am turning with the roller coaster??

Maybe I am juz imagining it!!! Cuz i wanna be on the next ride again!!

Heh, had a lot a lot of fun today... cuz we organised a Singsoc outing today to Thorpe Park!!! And who went? The SingSoc Committee Members of course!! Hahah, actually only the SingSoc committee members, but who cares! Had a wild time on all the thrilling rides. Decided that i love the roller coasters more than anything else, especially the Nemesis Inferno!!! Wasn't too keen on taking the front seats at first cuz was a bit hesistant having not been on all these things for so so long, but glad that i haven't lost the thrill seeking me yet! Eventually managed to get the front row on the Nemesis Inferno and I don't freaking regret it!!!

Next destination in thrill seeking: Alton Towers!!! This one comes branded with a water park too!! Nice!!

Juz finished showering. At this unearthly hour. Juz another totally useless fact. Thought of a lot of things i wanna blog about while in the shower. Now kind of forgotten already. Nvm.

Had aubergine for dinner. Also known as eggplant i think in the US and Oz and also know as brinjal in Asia. Was cooked with mince pork and har cheong. Never really took to brinjal when i first tried it. But today found it really really nice. A tad salty, but it was good.

Then ended off dinner with Krispy Kreme doughnut and a small lemon tart. Satisfied.

Saturday, April 09, 2005

The weather is somewhat better, but also not very much better, cuz it is still quite cold. And then tomorrow? Sunny with temperatures hoovering around 15C. And today? It was around 8-9C with wind. See what i mean about silly fluctuating weather?

Sunday, April 03, 2005

Heh, been quite a while since i blogged. Nearly a week to be exact... been spending the week stoning, sleeping loads, watching TV, reading, thinking,

That can probably sum up everything i did the past week...

Today was slightly different. The weather was (more than) fine today, so i do what i always do with fine weather - go out and walk! Walked all the way from Euston down to Tottenham Court Road then walked all the way up again to Warren Street, then to Gower Street, then crossed over to Tavistock Square and rested and tried to read my Finance notes, then walked on to Russell Square and to Brunswick Square Gardens and watched approaching planes. Spotted countless BA twin engine jets (the small narrowbody types), an SAS MD plane (red engine, blue tail, has to be SAS), a JAL B777, a Thai (i think) B744 and last but not least, my favourite plane, the one that would bring me home in 2 months' time, an SQ B744!!

Oh also saw a Singapore flag hanging in one of the windows facing Brunswick Square Gardens. Wonder who that is.

But walking is good!! London is made for walking and is best explored on foot.

Anyways, here a million dollar smile for you!!!
