(1) I miss home.
(2) I miss not having my friends around to talk to.
(3) I miss having friends who I can just sit next to and watch the world go by, and not having to say a word, but understand what each other might be thinking.
(4) I miss having someone around who shares, understands and listens to my boliao conversations.

Think I'm falling sick.

From the Humble Rover to the Quiet Citroen...

After nearly ten months of service for me, or 13 for Jon, Terry and Ling, our dearly beloved Humble Rover has unfortunately reached the end of its service life. We welcome our new addition to the family, the Quiet Citroen, though not as talkactive or as noisy as our Humble Rover, still entered its first day of service in fine form, and performed as expected.

Thank You Humble Rover, You've Served Us Well. Rest Well.

(Warning: Long Entry ahead...)
Pan-Grilled Trout Marinated in Lemon and White Wine Herb Butter served with peppered potatoes and steamed broccoli and carrots
That was dinner today... bought some rainbow trout from Tesco yesterday cuz it was reduced... and then marinated it according to the recipe that I got online... and pangrilled it...

I must say that the result of it looked really nice, yeah?? I was quite proud of the result... Taste wise, It's really nice too!!! Only problem i had was that the fish tasted a little fishy... I think I didn't put enough salt to get rid of the fishy taste, either that, or the fish is not very fresh!! hahaha.... :)

Half Way Through...
Enjoying the food...
All gone (except the potato skins which I din feel like eating today)!!

Shopping In Reading

Today was all about indulgence... woke up at 11am... decided that I should go to Reading to shop, if not I would keep on thinking about going there to shop over the next week, so might as well get it out of my mind straight away... so took the 1232 train to Reading... and then started off shopping with H&M, walked around, looked at accessories, then to Next, tried on boots, looked at wallet... then to Gap, then to Primark. Primark is quite possibly the cheapest high street department store around... Fair enough, the quality may not be as good, but there are some rather decent things you can find there... so got some stuff, pair of trousers for Matthew, tights and accessories for myself...

and then after this, it was to the Oracle Shopping Centre and started off with a Humous Salad Slim Pret Sandwich from Pret A Manger, the best sandwich chain around (The sandwich is called Slim Pret because you get one sandwich triangle instead of 2, hence "slim"). Then went to Claires, Whittards, Waterstones, La Senza, Schuh, Faith, Dolcis, TopShop, H&M (again), then Gap (again), then Zara, then Mango. One reason why I like coming to Reading is because it has both Mango and Zara, and it is the closer to Guildford than London... So anyway, i went to Zara, tried on 3 skirts and 1 trousers, and fell in love with a denim skirt!!! GBP25!!! Out of my budget... oh well, wait for Christmas sale then... and so, I walked around, and tried on killer pointy shoes, tried on boots, tried on clothes... it was fun.... :) too bad i can't get the denim skirt... it will put me out of my budget for this week...

Then went to Mango, did pretty much the same thing as I did in Zara, except this time, I was actually looking for something specific in Mango which i saw in Singapore but did not get... and I found it! Took 3 different colours, jeans, and a dressy top and went to try them on... Could not decide between the orange and the brown... so I walked around somemore, in the end decided to get the orange... The service at the counter was so good!!!! She greeted me, wrapped my top up in nice black tissue paper, and put it in a white Mango paper bag, then put in a small catalogue for me, and while waiting for the transaction to be approved, she asked if I wanted the big catalogue too which I was flipping through... and then she put it into the bag for me as well... and then she took the receipt, folded it and put it into a Mango Receipt Envelope! Did u know there was a Mango Receipt Envelope? I certainly didn't! Hahaha. I sound totally mad now I know, then she gave me the bag and thanked me... with smiles!!!! All this service even though I spent less than GBP10 in the store!! Mango in Singapore should learn from this people, man!! The people in Mango Singapore are so "dao" looking!! Heheh, so I left satisfied.... :)

What I got from Mango for spending GBP 6 (Paper bag not shown)

Total Damage Done to my Wallet today: GBP16.50 for 4 items, half a sandwich, and a cappuccino.

The Feeling from Retail Therapy: Priceless! :)

Better start studying now!!!!

A song that I really like... Sharing it with you...

Tanning in your sunray - From the Initial D Soundtrack

Chilling in the love shack
Summertime, number 9
Everytime, I think, my dreams come true

Here we-O time,
Nearly everything mine
Get in line, with the things for you

What time will you be here now?
It’s a quarter pass 7 now, uhuh
And I’m waiting for you

What you gonna do?
When it hits you
You and me, I
Hold back my shine
When I realize
I’m getting my tan in your sunray

And we see
Through the mirror
That you got me
Thinking clearer
And I’m gonna be under your skies I’ll stay
---

btw, that's the song you are hearing right now, in case you hadn't realise...

(I know how to put music on my blog now!!!! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!)

Something in one of the school forums that we are supposed to participate in... the discussion right now is pretty funny...

Some Food for Thought...
If a leader is to have a highly motivated, high performing team, all team members must be totally committed to the leader's vision, not merely involved in it - and there is a difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment'.
As one anonymous wag once put it:
"The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like a bacon and egg breakfast: the chicken was 'involved', but the pig was 'committed'!"

The reply from one of my colleagues...
The pig was indeed seemingly commited to the breakfast and the chicken only involved, but it should be noted this is the most appropriate level of involvement for both. If the commitment and involvement were the other way around you could end up with a cooked breast of chicken topped with something most unsavoury from the pig.

Hmm.... realised that my fuse these few days have been very short, and have been pretty short-tempered, and very sensitive to things said by people, and taking things wrongly and juz getting upset over small little minute things, which is totally not my nature at all. It makes me irk. It makes me hate myself for being like that. It's irks me, cuz I dun wanna hang aound my pathetic self when I am like this.

This is so not me. Also not sure why I am so like that. It's driving me crazy. I feel horrible treating people like that, but yet at the same time feel helpless, like I cannot control myself.

Sucks. Wanna get out of this soon. I miss my old me. The much more fun-to-hang-around me.

It's Official. Starbucks Sux. Today, we had a very interactive case study. We had the Starbucks challenge!!! So 10 volunteers had a taste test of 3 different types of coffee around the campus and UK in general, including me! This coffee was served by our wonderful lecturer, Dr. Phil Walsh, who was also barista and Krispy Kreme man for the day!!!

Here's Phil, the Krispy Kreme man with the Krispy Kreme hat!

Phil Again, serving coffee!!! And so we tried three different coffees. The first, Blue, was thick and tastes burnt, like charcoal. The second, Red, was mild, and a little sour. The third, Silver, was just foul. Don't know how to descibe it. Of course, in between the three different taste tests, we had Krispy Kreme donuts in between to sweeten and clean our palates! Decided that Red was the best, cuz frankly, it was the least disgusting of the lot. FYI, the coffee was served long black, hence no sugar, or milk. Guess I am not one for just black coffees. My coffees have to have sugar (preferable demarara) or sweetener at least! Anyway, I voted for Red. 2 other people agreed with me, 3 thought Silver was the best, and 5 thought Blue was the best. And of this, 3 thought Red was Starbucks, 4 thought Silver was Starbucks, and the last 4 thought Blue was Starbucks.

The Result? Blue is Starbucks. Red is Sorrento's (the School of Management's coffee bar). Silver is the thing you get from the vending machine in the common room.

Conclusion? Starbucks coffee tastes burnt! And it's good knowing that good coffee, as good as Starbucks, are available right on campus!!

P/S: The aftertaste of burnt black coffee, with no sugar, and no milk is disgusting. And I am now high on sugar from the dount, and caffeine, from the taste test, and the instant coffee I had in the morning! Stomach feels funny too. I *knew* I shouldn't have volunteered.

Posh Afternoon Tea

Today I was invited for a posh afternoon tea at Seo Hee's place. Seo Hee now works in a very posh patisserie, Maison Blanc on High Street, and always seem to have cakes to bring home. Today, we had a variety of cakes including

Mousse Aux Cassis

Foret Noire

Heavenly cakes, together with wonderful (Korean) tea... makes a wonderful Afternoon Tea indeed. :)

Carlsberg was the poison of choice for these guys!!!!! Yesterday night. After Ikea. Game of Choice: Blackjack. Total winnings: 1p for me. :)

I need to study!!!!!1

I had a good afternoon today... cuz I made a trip with Terrence and Janet... trips are always fun.
Today's trip was to Croydon... There is really nothing much in Croydon, except for 2 very important places, that is Wing Yip for Chinese food, and Ikea for furniture.
Today's journey was for IKEA. Ikea in Croydon was converted from an old power station, but they had completely knocked down everything except the two chimneys that belong to IKEA. Hence IKEA in Croydon is distinguished from everything else by those 2 chimneys. Too bad I dun have a photo, would have been nice to show them to you...
Anyway, it was a good trip to Ikea. We loaded up on Swedish meatballs and dessets, and loads of cheap furniture. Spent about GBP17, and even helped my friends get some things that they need. My main buy, however, was a side table. I wasn't sure about it at first, but I am glad I bought it. Here's why:

INGO from IKEA
Here's My New Table...

See where it fits in?? It fits in perfectly into the space between my work table and my bed, freeing up some space on my table, especially since now i can put my phone and other things on the small table. I figured that, if I want to, I can actually drap my laptop to the side table and work from there too!!! How cool is that???
For completeness, here's the other corner of my room...

Quite happy with the results now!!! :)

I want to eat. I want to eat chocolate. I want to eat sweet things.
I want to shop. I want to shop for boots. I want to shop for sash belts. I want to shot for skirts.
I want to travel. I want to travel to Germany. I want to travel to New York.
I want to decorate. I want to decorate my room. I want to decorate my room with rugs, and curtains, and flowers.

Did you notice the similarity??? The similarity in that ALL of these things seek to distract me from the most important thing that should be on my mind right now. And that is studying...

And these things are bloody distracting, they are. I need to revise. and study. and work hard. and work doubly hard.

Eww.... Talk about Zhi Xiang Can Sha.... It's no good being so greedy...
