Last day at work today. I realised that i am an emotionally weak person. Or a sentimental person. I juz didn't feel like leaving at all. Cuz it's my last day at work. Which was probably why i stayed till closing yesterday. I juz din want to go. It's like so difficult for me. Then everyone was like, take care kay? I'll miss you. And hugs and kisses (from Lucius who asked if he can kiss my hand. I said go ahead, but he didn't) all around. Which make it even more difficult to leave the place. And then Cat even said something like, i will miss the both of you a lot. Which juz make me wanna cry. I have only worked for 2 months there, but I get attached to ppl, places, things so easily. How can juz 2 months make you feel so close to some ppl? People like Noi, Cat, Chris, Aunty Lucy and Aunty Lily, Angie, Ana. Sigh. I dun like it when i am like that.
i think i need gingko whatever, you know that thing to boost your brains? Yeah.... cuz i decided i wanna write something for the blog... but i forgot what it's about.
But anyway....let's talk about things that i remember. I remember that i am going back next Saturday. Juz 8 more days. Sigh. I dunno whether i am ready to go back or not. But then it is not a choice isn't it? I remember that tomorrow is the 2nd last day at work. Which is both good and bad, cuz i'm feeling a lil tired already, but i had so much fun that i dun really feel like going.
Today SK-II had a stupid promotion at the cafe. they are giving out free coupons to their members for a free drink. Which is the free ice tea. Which i have to prepare since i was doing opening today. But i had no time to, cuz these people were already here when i arrived. They gave me no time at all to prepare my stuff and then they start asking for the drinks. At one time they told me they had 50 pax, so i prepared 50 drinks. Then later they told me that there are 90 pax and so to prepare for that and "you better hurry". What? You're telling me to hurry? Who r u to tell me to hurry? U are not even my boss. Why should i listen to you to tell me to hurry? I thought i was a little rude to her, esp when she asked me for water... then immediately switched to damage control mode to pacify that woman cuz she can tell that i was a little pissed with her and she with me. Then some customer walked in without letting us know and then i have to serve the customer as well. Anyway, these people finally left around half eleven... by that time crowd was already coming in and then i had to do that and everything else that i have not done in the morning due to these SKII people. And then after that these SKII people came up for dinner and asked for a table of 13 and one of 8!!! Was a little freaked out. Those SKII people were pretty arrogant, but they are all very good looking people, both the men and the women. Must have been using the SKII facial treatment mask. But good thing was, i heard from my boss that they were all pretty pleased how everything turned up this morning. oh well. Good then.
These few days i have been acting a lil crazy. doing really stupid things with my colleagues like talking about cute/good looking customers. Making silly jokes. Acting crazy. Telling people not to miss me when i go home for the day (I leave at 6 cuz i come the earliest). Playing with the rubber stamps. Doing bo liao things. Chatting with the cooks. Teasing them. Making fun of them.
Today Ana and Angie wanted to strip each other. That was a good show. =)
Nothing much to say today. Cuz i am tired and i am having a slight headache. Probably from working the extra 2.5 hours and having to rush around quite a bit. Sometimes quite stupid if you think about it. I am paid $5 an hour and then i have to work like nobody's business. But then actually what to do? I like what i am doing, i like my colleagues and i get free food. Like today we tried the new cakes like the Baked American cheesecake and the Rum and Raisin one. I like the rum and raisin one. Very good.
Then come home i ate somemore. Dunno how come wanna makan so much. Had sushi. Mummy bought that for me. Then had spinach soup, fish and chicken drumstick. and then later had a mooncake with my dad. So crazy. at night still eat so much.
So busy today. Our target for Monday is $1150 but we made $3120, cuz today is the start of the Tangs Anniversary sale and then somemore got double rebate. At one time there was only me running the whole show outside while 2 others run the inside. And then Derrick turned up with his sister and her Jap-Am husband. And i so totally got a shock. And then SAfina tell me that Derrick is cute. and i am like, Huh? You sure? But iam sure going to tell derrick about it. =)
And then can i complain about Sasikumar? He keep on disappearing into the kitchen to help Shariff when Shariff is perfectly capable of doing the entire food running himself. And then juz because he studies sound recording doesn't mean he has to play around with the music in the cafe all the time right? Come on lah... all of us are busy here and all you do is play around with the CD, like you're the DJ here. I have to tell him straight that he has to stay outside cuz we have enough ppl inside already and i can't run everything alone.
Juz now laugh too much during closing. Ended up biting on the right side of the mouth. Damn pain. Now still feel a lil sore.
And i am going to stop Alias already. It is getting too unpredictable for me. I mean, I am going to miss the final few episodes of Alias when i go to Uk, and i will not know what happen, considering the speed at which the plot twists and changes. I still dunno how Sydney's mom appeared at the end of last season. Sigh. Another 12 more days. Juz found out that one of my sis' friend going to be on the same flight as me. I dun like that friend. So dao at the wedding. Not that i care.
I dunno why i thought about this on the way to work today. You know Star Search? That stupid show? I watched this year's finals. and then i realised something that how the whole thing has changed. That it is no longer juz about the acting. Now they have to be multi talented. And then acting is not the more important anymore. You know how they use to put the acting segment last? Not Singing's the last segment. clearly showed the focus now. And then in the judging criteria... 50% for x-factor? Excuse me? YOu can win star search juz by having the xfactor?
I was going to say something else. But i forgot.
Did nothing interesting today. Nothing to do, so went to Clementi to walk walk, also went to change my black tank top. But din have stock, so reserved one in Wisma. Came back, had carrot cake, chye tao kueh, not the angmoh carrot cake. Juz finished dinner. Chicken rice. Want to watch f1, but mummy watching something about that basketballer Yao Ming, so cannot watch f1. Juz been informed that Rebens crashed.

here... but dropped a 18kg bAG of ice on my left foot this afternoon while carrying it... so a bit sore there.
Tried the softshell crab and grilled chicken in Island Cafe... Damn nice, therfore in honour of the soft shell crab... a change of blog name.

A message from the Health Corporation of Singapore about the Bad
effects of pork consumption. Pig's bodies contain MANY TOXINS, WORMS and LATENT
DISEASES.
Although some of these infestations are harboured in other animals,
modern veterinarians say that pigs are far MORE PREDISPOSED to these illnesses
than other animals. This could be because PIGS like to SCAVENGE and will eat
ANY kind of food, INCLUDING dead insects, worms, rotting carcasses, excreta
including their own, garbage, and other pigs. INFLUENZA (flu) is one of
the MOST famous illnesses which pigs share with humans. This illness is

SHAMPOO
Cancer-causing substance in Shampoo. Go home and check your shampoo.
Change before it's too late... Check the ingredients listed on your
shampoo bottle, and see they have a substance by the name of Sodium Laureth
Sulfate, or simply SLS. This substance is found in most shampoos; manufacturers
use it because it produces a lot of foam and it is cheap.
BUT the fact is, SLS is used to scrub garage floors, and it is very
strong!!! It is also proven that it can cause cancer in the long run,
and this is no joke. Shampoos that contains SLS : Vo5, Palmolive, Paul
Mitchell, L'Oreal, the new Hemp Shampoo from Body Shop etc contain this
substance.
The first ingredient listed (which means it is the single most
prevalent ingredient) in Clairol's Herbal Essences is Sodium Laureth Sulfate.
Therefore, I called one company, and I told them their product contains
a substance that will cause people to have cancer. They said, Yeah we
knew about it but there is nothing we can do about it because we need that
substance to produce foam.
Chip and Reichen won the Amazing Race 4!!!! So exciting!!!! Was on edge of my seat all the time. Have not felt this way while watching a show (that is not football, tennis or f1) for a very long time liao...

Mars came to surprise me this afternoon. =) I was juz beginning to set the tables when i see Mars sitting there reading the menu. But i could not recognise the girl with her back to me, so when i went over to say hi, only when she looked up did i realise it was Mars.... I was so happy that i let out a squeal!!!! =) I can't believe i thought it could be Hwei SHan's sister.... She look so cute... as usual..... and she gave me a matching milk tshirt!!! =) and the box that the tshirt came in writes "Milk makes you drunk". Hahhahaha..... :D
Got a chance to chat with them while they ate, since they came at a slightly quieter time... but they missed out on seeing eye candy Lucius cuz he was on his break... oh well. I'm going to bring a camera some day so that i can take a photo with everyone.
I can't believe i have only less than 3 more weeks in Singapore... So fast... I feel like i have not played enough... i have not met everyone that i wanna meet. I have not done a lot of stuff... apparently i have been spending a lot of time at work. I have not really thought enough about the placement, about what i want to do etc etc.
I know that i am going to miss home... i am going to miss my family, my friends, everyone... the efficiency etc etc. Stupid as it may sound, i am going to miss Island Cafe too... not the cafe itself, but everyone who has worked there, you know, like Cat, Lucius, Chris, Asri, Pradeep, Noi, Safina, Ana, Aunty Lucy, Aunty Lily, Ah Loy, Desmond etc etc etc. We had so much fun and laughter teasing each other and having fun and doing really boliao stuff. I think i like working there so much that sometimes even outside of work, i say "Thank You Ma'am" unconsciously....
Took an MC today, cuz my right cheek hurts. And am running a slight temperature (Actually it's juz 37.1C), so decided to call in sick. Cuz got my upper and lower wisdom tooth removed yesterday in a "surgical extraction". Dr Leong had to cut my lower wisdom tooth into smaller pieces, before extracting it. The cutting process must be like drilling since it sounded exactly like it.
Which was fine, since i was on local anesthesia. But the anesthesia obviously wore off, cuz it started hurting at night. In the end could not sleep peacefully. Had to wake up countless times because of the the stupid pain.
Am tired after working for 3 consecutive days with less than16 hours rest between reaching home and leaving for work.
Corinne came to visit me on Tuesday, which was a surprisingly quiet day, so had a chat with her and her bf while they had dinner.
Tired
The grill in the kitchen which we use for a lot of things caught fire yesterday... and it happened during dinner time, when we were all so busy that people have to wait up to 20 minutes for drinks. Our sous chef, Wong had to take the entire grill to the sink and there was this huge trail of smoke so we had to close the kitchen door so that the smoke does not get into the restaurant. Stupid Tangs have to decide that we should open till 1030 on National Day eve, when there was practically nobody after 10pm. How smart can they be? Reached home near 11.15pm
More tired
Started work at 11. Quietest Saturday so far... Not much people except for lunch and tea, and everyone else was stuck at home to watch NDP during dinner. Caught a little of the fly past. Only good thing for the day? We learnt to entertain ourselves and there was luke and i bought a pair of sandals. Retail therpy works today =) went home at 830.
Even more Tired.
Started work at 11 again. First customer only came in 1.5 hours after we opened. Crowd picked up during tea time when we were one short, after Fina got the ice blended all over her waistcoat after she spilled the drink. Luke called in sick today. THank goodness it is only 8 hours today. went home at 7 for dinner. And then watched Man U win the shield.
Going to sleep now to end a tiring week.
Today Vijay called me. To wish me Happy Birthday. And then tell me that i would be working full day on SAturday and Sunday. 12-9 on SAturday, National Day, instead of 1100 - 1630, and on Sunday from 1230 - 2030, when it's supposed to be an off day for me. Sigh. The birthday wishes before the bombshell. This is the first time i would not be watching National Day live...
Went to Thai Express today to eat. Tried the Thai popiah with mushrooms. Very nice, love the mixture of mushroom and tunghoon.
4th August today, you know??? A very hot day, i juz felt like i was sweating bucketloads.... Am off today, so woke up late. Made lasagne for my mum today... ended up a bit too watery, but won praises from everyone, cuz the white sauce is not too chessy, made juz the way i like it. ;) The cake came at 2pm. Durian cake from Angie the Choice. First thought was that it was too pink, but then decided that the cake is very pretty. Very exquisuitely decorated. Made wanton for dinner. Loads of wanton. Durian cake was really good. Really durian puree in between. So sinful. So good, only wished that there is less cream though. But good nonetheless.
