I was reading about James Lye and Diana Ser's wedding... and I didn't know that they have been dating each other for 9 years!!! 9 years!!! Can you believe it? Anyway... I was like, i dunno how to say it... I like? I am proud of them? I err... nvm... This must be like, one of the really really rare weddings that i read about in the papers that doesn't involve sponsorship like you know, Pierre Png and Andrea, Darren Lim and Evelyn Tan's wedding... everything is like, paid out of their own pockets, no labels mentioned anywhere in the article at all... Which is so so so so so rare...

And I know James Lye work for Citibank. But vice-president of International Clients Division? Wow! I am amazed... Heh... maybe he should come to London soon for a business trip, cuz we are the corporate hotel for Citibank. Being married doesnt mean ppl stop admiring your looks... I know my colleagues would sure appreciate his looks! ;)

It has been a pretty interesting weekend... both good and bad... but eventful, nonetheless...

First, the bad (and the sad)... I was so damn fucking busy on Friday... People were just coming non-stop and there was juz me alone... 160 arrivals... 1 receptionist... How do u provide a 5-star service if u dun have enough ppl? It's obviously not the guest's fault if we are short-staffed, so why should they be penalised for it? And Friday was Tina's last day at work... I am so so so so so so going to miss her... She taught me so much... and we work so well together... and now that she's gone, I am going to be all alone!!

Then the coincidence... I checked in this Singaporean today... Usually it's me that asks the guest if they are from Singapore, but the moment this guy arrived, he asked me straight away if i am from Singapore or Malaysia... I already new he was from Singapore as I saw the driving license in his wallet... so I juz said yes. Turns out that he is a 3rd year law student from NUS that is doing at exchange in Leicester... I also found out that we have got a lot of common friends... so kind of cool you know...

Then the good and the fun... After the nightmare that is known as Friday night, i went to Tina's Leaving party at Nells in Dover Street... and despite the fact that i was really really tired... we both had A BLAST!!!! The music i must admit was not that great, but we had fun juz dancing and juz fooling around and juz people watching, ya know... the enitre place was packed, and i suspect I was not the only Singapore around, cuz there were quite a lot of other people that look and sound singaporean... anyway, back to the point, we went on till 3am when Tina couldnt take it anymore (She has been up since 5am in the morning) and then we left... I must be pretty high when i left (the effect of 3 cokes) cuz i tried putting my staff card into the cash machine... and both of us couldnt stop laughing after that... Reached home at 3.30am... but then the sky was already getting light... And that was my first crazy night out in London...

Erm. I went shopping again. Been shopping a lot these few days... but then you can't blame me. Why? Because the Mango Sale has started...!!!! Which Means The Sale Season on London has started!!!! Anyway... I bought a top from Mango for GBP9 and even though Zara has not started its sale yet, I got a denim skirt there for GBP6 which is juz about S$20, which to me is an absolute bargain, no?? Now waiting for the full sale to start so that I can get my sandals.

I had Sushi at the staff canteen at work today... Yeah, you heard it right, I Had Sushi At Work Today... Might not seem like a big deal to some of you guys... but when you live in London, where Sushi is sold at exorbidant (sp?) prices... Being able to eat free sushi is like a BIG thing ya know... at least big to me... The food was actually left over from a function, but heck care... We also had Japanese style vegetable curry... which is absolutely delicious, and also sandwiches, with an assortment of fillings - egg mayo, tuna, ham and coleslaw(my personal fav), beef... and to top it off, a fruit topped soft cheesecake with a digestive base... Now this is what i call indulgence...

And I received my first wedding invitation in my life. Addressed to me. Makes me feel a little old, ya know. Anyway, it's for Tania and David's wedding... Tania is my closest friend in UniS. The first person I spoke to who is doing the same course as me... She's juz 23... but getting married. Wow... And it might probably be the only wedding I would attend in the Jehovah's Witness Church... since this religion is banned in Singapore. But new experiences... Never say no to one, man.

Went to attend graduation yesterday... Not my grdauation, but Derrick's grauduation... it's like, the end of an era... no more dinner at derrick's, cynthia or Becki's place... and no more talks till 6 am in the morning... no more gossip... sigh...

Today went to my colleague Graziano's place for a barbecue... my 3rd bbq this summer... and it was somewhere in the subrubs... in east london... in this place called leyton. I took the tube to Zone 3, and when i came out... I felt as though I am in a completely differrent place... like some kind of ghetto(sp?), ya know... old houses, old buildings... with hugh warehouse-like supermarkets that you see along the edge of motorways... To be honest, I find this area a little dodgy... weird ppl...

But then the barbecue was fun... started slow at first, but then we moved on to the food and we catered food from the hotel kitchen.... which means great kebabs and great beef patties and great tortillas, courtesy of our resident Mexican, Eduardo... and edited to continue because i realised i published without finishing... and so yeah... food was great, so was the music... left at 10 cuz it was way too far from my or Kantan's place.... but it was a good night overall...

I think I am becoming lazy with blogging... or updating my blog... But considering that I have no life now... basically, it is work, home, work, home... there really wouldn't be much to write about isn't it??

Anyway... two days ago, I was on my way to work and sat next this elderly man... He was texting on his mobile and then turned to me to ask how to spell "lukemia" (I'm not sure if it's correct) and "Chemotherapy". So i spelled it for him (telling him, of course that I'm not sure if it is correct) and then he told me that his wife had cancer... and he paused and his eyes were wet... It was like, so heart wrenching, cuz it must be juz as painful for him as it is for his wife, knowing that his loved one is sick... So when i left, I pat him on the back and told him to take care and wished his wife well...

And few days ago... I was making a reservation for one of my favourite VIP for his wife... and we were juz talking and he was asking me so many questions about this booking and he wanted a printout... and to me he was always laid back and cool... but that time he was like a little anxious... then when i gave him a printout, he told me, "When it comes to my wife, I am a control freak."
And I juz went, "Ohh, That's because you love her very much..."
He replied in a tongue in cheek manner, "No, that's because if i don't do it properly, I get the blame."
We both laughed... I love it when you get VIPs like this... Wonderful wonderful people...
