I was reading the article in Straits Times about
the 3 no-frills airlines that ply the SIN-BKK route... and if what i read is to be believed, i would say that Tiger Airways would be the one which would have problems in future... Why so? I think Singaporeans still expect service when they fly, and being the home base of one of the world's best airline, if not the best airline, Singaporeans have come to expect some form of service on board a plane, having at some time or another, flown SQ. And Tiger Airways is 49% owned by SIA, which means Singaporeans would expect some form of service, even if the business concept of Tiger is totally different from that of SQ. Singaporeans are still not used to the LCC business concept, me thinks.
Oh i saw Fiona Xie at the airport! She looks dao! And very much like a kept woman.
I feel a little smug right now. Cuz someone has finally ended Arsenal's 49-match unbeaten run... And who else would be more suitable to do that then the great Manchester United? Who else? No one else. :)
I feel more smug now. ;)
I was going to talk about my flight back from Singapore. But it was too good to be said in a few lines or a few paragraphs, so let's juz say it was very good. The epitome of excellent service, what service should be ALL about.
And so all good things must come to an end...
Why???? Who the hell invented this phase anyway? Why must all good things come to an end? Why can't they go on? Who says we can only have a limited possession of all good things?
I dun want to go back!!!!!! *wail*
Sleep, eat, sit around, surf net, go out and see look, meet friends, eat, watch TV, read my old Chick Lit, Sleep.
This was pretty much how i have been spending my time since i came back..

I'm bored. Would u like to recommend something I can do?
Went to a huge pasar malam yesterday in Clementi. For some reason, I didn't realise that pasar malam now includes car shows as well. Weird. And other than that, the other 70% of the pasar malam was focused on food. I counted at least 4 different stalls selling the same thing, including muah chee, steamed chick peas and corn, the Taiwanese sausage, fried chicken wings, other forms of fried food like fishcake, chicken nuggets, etc etc, something like an Old Chang Kee. But there are also forays into other kinds of food like Kebabs, the Turkish kind, Indian food like Roti John, peanut pancake.
These are the best selling stores, which is not really that surprising to me. I figured, even when the economy isn't doing well... People can stop shopping, but they never stop eating, which is probably why there are so many food stalls.
The other stall which is selling? The one that is selling stickers. And who are buying those stickers? Working adults and housewives. I dun understand. Go figure.
I can't tell you how Good it feels to be home. The moment the plane lands, you juz know, you've reached home. Everything you see makes u feel at home. The large number of SIA planes, the terminal, how clean Changi is compared to Heathrow yada yada. And the immigration officer actually wishes you "Welcome Home". How cool is that?
Let's talk about the flight. Major cost cutting taking place. And it is evident. It small subtle little things, but it's there. At least to me. Let's take a look
1) A card explaining why plastic cutlery are usedv- that is gone
2) The same main dish as when I took the same sector in April, and something similar in June last year
3) Not more cut green chilli for noodles for breakfast
Small things, but small things that i notice.
And for the 1st time ever, I felt some differential treatment on the plane. They ran out of the Gordon Ramsay's chicken on the plane, so I had the take the beef stir fry, but they apologised to the angmoh lady sitting next to me but not to me. Why? Does it matter less to me that there is no chicken available? My sis and I came up with the theory that it's cuz this Singapore Girls, they can sense whether or not someone appreciates good service. And generally, the angmohs are more vocal in appreciating the good service, so they tend to treat them better. You think so? And so because I am Chinese, does that mean i dun appreciate good service?
I mean, I have to admit, I can tell when a guest appreciates good service and I admit that I might treat these guests better because i know they appreciate it and they tell me. I make the extra effort, I explain things, I dun mind going out of the way to help them. But that's because I want to be appreciated and recognised (come on, everybody does), and it's always nice to hear it from someone that they appreciate my gesture, thank you very much.
Anyway, yeah the flight. I chose to fly on the 30th because I want to watch the movies for September and then also for October when i return, but then SIA has already switched the Krisworld to October's already, so i din get to watch the September one, which is a pity. But anyway, I watched Spiderman 2 and Mean Girls. Spiderman 2 is better than the 1st.
And I slept for 5 hours on the plane!!! Which is a surprise because I never sleep on the planes. Because I choose not to. Because sleeping for 5 hours on the plane means u have 5 hours less on the plane to watch movies and play games, which is always my 1st option on my to do list on the plane.
Anyway, I am home.
