The day i was at the library, I decided that it's time I see Singapore from the visitor's viewpoint, so I decided to borrow
The Eyewitness's Travel Guide to Singapore.
Being Eyewitness, 3-D graphics and glossy images are aplenty... which is not good, because it juz make me miss Singapore more... but it has been a really good read cuz u find out about things that u didn't think were really important but were actually great tourist attractions and then there are things like a walk through the colonial houses in Singapore. I mean, which Singaporean does that? Probably very few, cuz not many people actually really care, do they? But it can be something really interesting i suppose.
I dunno why, but Chijmes, Fort Canning are considered top 10 attractions in Singapore...
My favourite line in the whole book so far? There are 3 pages dedicated to Singapore food, specifically Chinese, Malay and Indian Cruisine, all accommpanied with images. Those are the most sinful pages in the entire book. This is what they say about Carrot Cake (as in chye dao kueh), "Carrot Cake can also be fried with egg and seasoned with a sweet black sauce". That i think is funny cuz angmohs who read that will think we are crazy, i mean, Angmoh-style carrot cake being fried with egg and sweet sauce? That, i can SO imagine... I wonder what they think when they read that line. Probably better written as "White Savoury Carrot Cake fried with egg and seasoned with a sweet black sauce". Doesn't that sound better?
