Have u ever met a bus driver that drives at 40kmh for the whole journey, regardless of expressway, or normal roads??? Today I have. The slowest bus driver ever. He stops for 15 sec at every single stop even though no one wants to alight there. When he stops, he takes a stretch before continuing....
Mummy and I were like, omg. Never ever seen such a slow driver. an 20 min jouney became a 32 min one.
Perth!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr............ Blogger lost my post.
As I was saying...
I called SQ Reservations just now to request for my seat (49K Emergency Exit Window Seat), and checked on the availability and she told me that the flight would be VERY full. In fact, all the SIN-LON flights that weekend are all full.
Maybe an op-up would be great (Operational-Upgrade). :) They did say that economy class is VERY full even though I merely asked how full is the flight. So that means that Raffles Class might not be as full, no??
I am on Hwa Chong alumni's mailing list, and this sentence among the messages stood out:
"Okay I'm not sure if there are any current students here (probably there are but they may be busy studying for their Promos/Prelims already..) "
Right. If he just said Prelims, it would have made sense. But if i dun remember wrongly, promos actually start on early October. It is now mid-August... hmm... talk about being kiasu. This guy really is kiasu.
This is a conversation which I had with a friend earlier today...
Me: How come i always kenna suan left right centre?
A: u got the face that says "Come on Throw at me"
Me: issit??? U joking? really ah?
A: yap...
Me: how come ah? what kind of face is that?
A: ........hard to describe it is just like the x-factor...either u have it or u don't
Me: heh? So instead of having x-factor, i have a wanna get suan face?
A: yeap...u got it
Argh, I think this instrument would fit in nicely with how I feel now...
It was a good outing...
I have not met some of these people for like 2 years at least. Some are working, some are still studying, some are going on exchanges, some are on internships... It's kind of weird meeting up again, but a "good" weird, you know??
We had a good dinner and then we proceeded to coffee and we talked and talked and talked... It's funny, cuz we talked like old friends... yes, there was some of those "what do we talk about" awkwardness, but generally we talked, and we were civil with each other. Hahahha... Some of the guys definitely have matured, but one of two are still the same as ever.
I came with not much expectations, and I'm glad I left feeling glad that I have chose to come. :)
This looks pretty much like the IFE (Inflight Entertainment) TV that you see on the planes, yeah? This is actually a mini TV. The question is, where is this TV actually found???
It is actually found in the toilet of a restaurant in Nanjing. Yup, you read me right, a restaurant toilet in Nanjing. Not just in the toilet itself, but in each toilet cubicle. Yes, some chinese have become so rich that they even have the money to install TVs in every toilet cubicle. Considering this is a 5-storey restaurant. With a toilet in every floor, with about 10 cubicles, that would be about 50 mini-TVs... and that's not counting the men's toilets. I would not be surprised if there is a TV in front of each urinal. And there are also 3 glass lifts in this 5-storey restaurant. And in front of the restaurant parked the Big Boss' car. A stretch limo.
This is of course a minority among all the Chinese in China. However, i think it is disbelief, more than anything, about how this guy tried to display his wealth. Hmm, I remember the service inside this restaurant is not even that good. It sucks, in fact. Think about it this way, bad service leads to lousy business leads to low profits, cash flow problems leads to bankrupcy leads to property seizure leads to waste of money in building such an extravagant building in the first place.
Everything comes down to service, see???
I know many of you won't believe, but right now I am sitting in my sister's flat, typing away, alone with Matthew who is sleeping in his parents' room. Yes, I have been assigned the role of baby sitter to my darling Matthew. Which is a big role, cuz while I am okay with babies in that, I can play with them and make those oh-so-cute noises, I definitely do not know what to do once they start crying...
Luckily Matthew seemed to be holding up well. Bless him, little boy. Sleep well. :)
I want to show u guys something... but Blogger refused to allow me to upload to Blogger.... *hmph*.
Board Games are cool!!! I am in love with them!!! Nothing beats a round (or two! or many!) of board games!!! :)
My flight back to Singapore was delayed for 4 hours because of "aircraft reallocation" problems (according to the airline), but i think it is juz a whole lot of rubbish, because that particular plane that took us back was already at the gate for ages, waiting. What kind of reallocation can there be?? And though Shanghai airport is new and pretty, it does get boring after you have spent about 6 hours in the airport. I dun think I can ever get bored with 6 hours to kill in Changi, but that's just me.
Let's talk about my trip!!!! First of all, if at all possible, dun go to China in July and August. Cuz the weather kills, and I mean literally, because the weather is so damn freaking humid, you sweat buckets and it is unbelievably uncomfortable.
But other than that, it is amazing to see how much Suzhou, Hangzhou and Shanghai has grown. Gone are the shared toilets with a hole in a ground, there are now toilet bowls! And some of the toilets are even air-conditioned!
My favourite city still has to be Shanghai, juz because it is so like Singapore! My favourite place was Xiangyang Street Market, where you can disappear into not to come out again!!! Haggling is a must in this place!!! I managed to bargain from RMB120 to RMB30 for my bag!!!! It is a *fake* Nike bag, but the imitation is quite real too... Most of the goods in this place are fake of factory rejects and imitations, but really, u can't really tell the difference. :) Wai Tan (The Bund) gives you the best of the old and new of Shanghai, with the old colonial buildings at Puxi and the new skyscrapers in PuDong. I really really don't mind coming here to work someday. It's so Singapore. Even the tube station and gantries are Singapore-styled too! There's also Nanjing Pedestrian Street, Renmin Square, XinTianDi, etc etc etc, too much to say lah!!! You have to see it to believe it!!!
I like this area so much. Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai. You'll see me back here in 5-10 years' time.
A Typhoon is quite interesting. Especially given a view from the 17th floor.
Current Location: Radisson SAS Lansheng Hotel Shanghai
Current Mood: Excited cuz the typhoon is coming, sad because it seems I would be stuck indoors for the rest of today
In case you didn't know,
Typhoon strikes Taiwan, heads toward Shanghai
Shanghai is so cool!!! Must come! Shopping is great too!! Will let u know more when i get back!!! :)
